Dr. Phil’s book, How to Live Until You Die: The 7 Keys to Living Happy, Healthy, and Whole, can help you succeed in your commitments to live a healthier life, in body, soul, and spirit.
[4:56] The book is now live on Amazon, but Dr. Phil is still offering special pre-launch packages, with an autographed copy, plus some awesome bonuses. Go to HowToLiveUntilYouDie.com to take advantage of this limited-time offer.
[5:48] Dr. Phil answers a question from his personal trainer, Jeff McMahon, who has a client on several medications. She wonders if any of them prevent her from losing weight. Yes, some medications, such as antidepressants, blood pressure medicines, birth control medicines, anti-seizure and anti-migraine medicines, and statins, have that effect.
[8:17] Statin drugs deplete the nutrient coenzyme Q10 from our bodies. CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant found in every cell, and vital for the Kreb’s cycle. With low CoQ10, our muscles weaken, energy drops, and we may gain weight. Dr. Phil is of the opinion, if you take a statin drug, you must take CoQ10. Or, take a natural alternative to a statin.
[10:00] There are natural alternatives on the market to replace statins. Policosanol is an alternative, also red yeast rice. You can make lifestyle changes to keep your cholesterol in a healthy range. Another method to lower cholesterol is to increase water intake.
[11:56] CoQ10 and other antioxidants neutralize free radicals which helps prevent certain diseases, and the breakdown of our bodies. Some researchers say CoQ10 can help with heart-related conditions. CoQ10 is available free-form or as Ubiquinol. Dr. Phil recommends free-form CoQ10 tablets if younger than 40, and Ubiquinol, over 40.
[14:24] This episode’s Feeling Good Superheroes are Joyce and Jeanette, patients with high cholesterol, who chose not to go on statin drugs. They are getting great numbers on natural alternatives and lifestyle changes! Thank you Joyce and Jeanette, for being our Feeling Good Superheroes of the day, you are awesome!
