[1:58] Almost 10% of the U.S. population has diabetes. Diabetes can be prevented and be reversed.
[2:53] Dr. Phil talks about two kinds of resistance that are the underlying cause of diabetes: insulin resistance and people’s resistance to change their lifestyle.
[3:33] What is insulin resistance and how does it lead to Type II Diabetes?
[7:02] Dr. Phil believes that Type II Diabetes and insulin resistance can be reversed. You can do something to make a difference.
[7:17] Dr. Phil recommends two treatments that work extremely well for insulin resistance. One treatment is to take a small dose of a mineral called Chromium.
[9:12] Insulin resistance occurs in two health problems present in some women. One, PCOS and the other, gestational diabetes. Chromium deficiency could play an important role in helping women with these issues.
[9:53] Chromium levels decrease with age, so talk to your healthcare provider to see if you may need to supplement Chromium in your diet. Keep a close watch on your blood levels if you start taking Chromium.
[11:05] The second treatment to help with insulin resistance is to change your diet. If you want to see some significant changes in your blood glucose levels, then you have to make lifestyle changes. You can’t be resistant to change. Start with a balanced diet.
[11:56] The standard American diet is killing us and we have to stop it. We have got to change.
[12:32] Reach out to Dr. Phil and he can help you balance all of the macronutrients that you eat.
[13:50] Remember two things to help you with insulin resistance: take a Chromium supplement and eat a balanced diet.
[14:03] This episode’s Feeling Good Superhero is Sam. Sam was having a hard time controlling blood sugar and was taking a lot of diabetes medications to try to control it. Dr. Phil recommended to Sam that he take Chromium supplements as well as make some dietary changes and the combination made a big difference in Sam’s life. He was able to get his sugar levels under control. If you are diabetic, and you decide to take Chromium, make sure you work with a local health provider or reach out to Dr. Phil.
[16:40] The greatest joys in life come not from you being lifted by others, but rather by others being lifted by you.
