[2:00] Can you prevent breast cancer?
[2:27] The key component to preventing breast cancer in women is to keep hormones in the proper balance.
[2:51] Dr. Phil shares seven keys to help women keep hormones in balance to help prevent breast cancer.
[3:37] Dr. Phil recommends saliva testing to get accurate cellular results for hormone testing. Reach out to Dr. Phil for more information.
[4:41] What are you eating? Nutrition is key when it comes to our health.
[5:11] Eat more cruciferous foods like kale, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and broccoli sprouts. Alum vegetables such as onion and garlic will also protect against cancer.
[7:31] Love, protect, take care of, and support your liver. Your liver is very important for your overall health as it helps detox your body.
[9:48] Juice half a lemon, add to warm water, and drink in the morning as this can help your bowels and get rid of excess estrogen.
[10:49] Good bacteria, or microbiome, in the gut helps clear excess estrogen in the body and help to regulate estrogen exposure.
[12:05] Medication, stress, and chemicals can destroy the good bacteria in our bodies. You can eat fermented foods and/or take probiotic supplements.
[13:09] Cut the chemicals. These chemicals can act like estrogens in our body and you can end up with estrogen dominance. Reduce exposure as much as possible.
[15:06] Stop smoking. It is easier said than done, but smoking disrupts the balance of hormones in your body and increases your risk of developing cancer.
[18:32] Avoid birth control pills. They increase the risk of breast cancer because they disrupt the balance of hormones in your body.
[20:17] Sleep. Less sleep means more hunger and increased insulin and this causes weight gain. If we are carrying excess weight, we are more at risk for developing cancer. We must have rest to keep our hormones in balance.
[23:16] This episode’s Feeling Good Superhero is Mel. Mel came to Dr. Phil a few years ago when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She wanted to do the right thing to survive cancer. She made the right choice and put action behind her words and followed Dr. Phil’s advice. She is back at work full time, taking care of her family, and doing the things she wants to do. She will continue to do these things and this will help her to not develop cancer again. Keep living that healthy life, Mel.
[25:07] The greatest joys in life come not from you being lifted by others, but rather by others being lifted by you.
