There is so much more to living a balanced, healthy, and vibrant life than just eating right, exercising, drinking water, sleeping well, and taking your supplements.
All of the aforementioned are essentials to quality health, especially the health of our bodies. We must take care of our bodies, however we are created as three part beings. We also have a soul and spirit, and we must equally take care of and nourish our soul and spirit. This is something that I have been teaching a class on at my church that I call Fine in 49. A 49 day plan to learning how to live a more balanced, healthy, and vibrant life.
That balance that I speak of is something that I stress and emphasize in the work that I do as a pharmacist and health and nutrition coach. Each individual part of our being, body, soul, and spirit, must stay in balance for us to enjoy optimum health. If everyone would strive to maintain this balance, we would all be much happier and healthier. I know that it is possible for all of us to live happier and healthier lives. That is why I am so passionate about teaching others to lead a more balanced, healthy, and vibrant life. Most people are totally aware of what it takes to maintain a balanced healthy body, and I teach these things in my course, such as good nutrition, exercise, drinking more water, and getting good quality sleep, but we often neglect the health of our soul and our spirit. As I said they are equally important in maintaining optimum health, and actually it is much easier to take care of our soul and our spirit than it is our bodies. One of the first things that we need to do is to acknowledge the importance of the soul and spirit on our overall health. The second thing we must do is take the time that is necessary or make the time if we have to in order to maintain a healthy soul and spirit.
I recently had an opportunity to feed and nurture my soul and spirit in a very special way, other than my normal routine of daily prayer walks and meditation. On a recent trip to visit my oldest son Cody, who lives with his wife Madison, in Charlotte, North Carolina, I had the opportunity to enjoy a unique moment where the feeding and nurturing of body, soul, and spirit all converged. On a Sunday afternoon when everybody else wanted to take a nap, Cody and I made the choice to go for a walk with his dog. We enjoyed a long walk along a nature trail next to the apartment complex where he and Madison live. As we walked along the trail and occasionally ventured off into the woods to explore, we exercised our bodies; we talked, shared, and connected emotionally; and our spirit man was fed by the beauty of God’s creation. It was one of those rare father and son moments that I will never forget. As I later reflected upon that day, I thought to myself those types of moments should not be rare. I was challenged, and I want to challenge you as well to look for and create more of these kinds of moments so that they no longer are rare but become common in our lives.
