On this Feeling Good episode, Dr. Phil announces changes for the podcast this year, including expert guests once or twice a month. Dr. Phil will also be sharing stories, research and news pertaining to all things health, wellness, and fitness. On this episode Dr. Phil answers a listener’s question, gives the basics for following his balanced diet plan and shares the story of another Feeling Good Superhero.
Key Takeaways from This Podcast:
[3:26] Dr. Phil hates the word “dieting.” Diets don’t last, they only provide temporary weight loss, and sometimes the dieter gains more after the diet than before. Listener Jared asks what Dr. Phil teaches about diet and nutrition.
[4:59] Dr. Phil follows a balanced nutrition plan, that he started on 20 years ago. He has lost 25 lbs of excess weight. It is similar to Dr. Barry Sears’ Zone Diet, and also to the Paleo Diet. Dr. Phil is thankful he has been able to keep the weight off. Anyone can do the same, if they follow a plan, and if they have a “why.”
[7:23] Why do we want to lose excess body weight, and live healthier? One reason is to avoid diabetes. Another reason is to cut the risk for cancer. Another is for better heart health. When we aren’t carrying around extra weight, we have a better quality of life.
[9:48] Dr. Phil teaches eating more fresh or frozen foods, and less processed and boxed foods. Buy from farms, or grow your own foods. Eat more lean proteins, like wild-caught ocean fish, not farm-raised fish. Avoid animals that have been given hormones, pesticides, and chemicals. Eat free-range animals and organic vegetables and fruits.
[11:59] Eat balanced portions. Imagine a three-section plate. Put a palm-sized protein source in one section. Then add a fist-sized amount of green fresh vegetables in another section and fruit in the third section. Last, add good fat, by adding good oils, or raw nuts, or a natural nut butter, made only from nuts and salt, with visible oil on the top.
[16:32] Dr. Phil has shared a few of the basics. To learn more, he encourages you to visit Carsonnatural.com for a consultation appointment, or to find out about the 3- and 6-month feeling good life coaching packages, to take you through these plans, and give you other tools to help you live a vibrant and healthy life, every single day.
[17:06] Dr. Phil wants to help everyone accomplish the goals to live the healthy vibrant life that they desire to live, so he wrote the new book, How to Live Until You Die: The 7 Keys to Living Happy, Healthy, and Whole. In it, Dr. Phil shares his own story of health, and others’ stories, too. The book can help you to balance body, soul and spirit.
[19:07] Before the book goes live on Amazon, Dr. Phil is offering special pre-launch packages, with an autographed copy, plus some awesome bonuses. Go to HowToLiveUntilYouDie.com to take advantage of this limited-time offer.
[19:53] This episode’s Feeling Good Superhero is Gary, who has lost 40+ lbs., and has kept it off for almost a year. Gary came to Dr. Phil with diabetes, and overweight, and Dr. Phil coached him through the plan of balanced simple nutrition. He is elated he can now run and hunt in the woods with his grandkids! Thank you Gary, for your story!
